RESIGNATION : TRANSCRIPT

In all the decisions I have made in public life, I have always tried to do what was best, and what was right, for the people. For the people. I reject these false allegations, which are slanderous and irrelevant. I state categorically, I have always acted with the highest level of ministerial integrity.

Those in the media who've covered this story with prejudice must look at both sides and decide who's side you're on. We are all fatigued while the opposition, despicably, yet predictably: plays politics. Throughout this trial, I have felt, it was my duty to endure, stay-the-course. But it's now evident, continuing fighting these claims will waste government resources, when the focus must be always on THE PEOPLE.

And so I have made the difficult decision, out of respect for my position, and my office, and my country, and its in-sti-tu-tions. To announce my...resignation.

I have never been a quitter. To leave this office before my term is complete is abhorrent to every instinct in my BODY. No doubt the community will validate my legacy. I wish success to my successors, as I join my predecessors on the green. On the green.

It has been an honour and a privilege, and while this may be the END... of my leadership, I will of course remain in the ministry for as long as my constituents will have me. For in the court of public opinion, I am the victim, I'm the victim. In the court of public opinion, I am the victim, I'm the victim.
